ArchiMate is a modeling language for architecture with a relatively formal definition. Each concept and association has its own definition and meaning. Furthermore, there is a relatively large number of concepts and associations. Furthermore, there are various constraints regarding associations and the use of concepts, such as with viewpoints.
Nevertheless, ArchiMate offers several advantages for communication within these formal boundaries, particularly as a vocabulary for interaction within a group of architects.
For interaction using ArchiMate diagrams with non-architects, the modeling language is not always suitable. Business stakeholders are unfamiliar with the notation, and diagrams are often perceived as complex. Furthermore, a diagram is not always visually appealing. The diagram below shows a standard ArchiMate diagram.

A diagram with a limited number of element types but a relatively large number of elements. However, this diagram is considered complex by many stakeholders. Therefore, we decided to simplify the model somewhat by removing the irrelevant elements. We also replaced the elements with a graphical representation based on an image library developed by Sparx. This makes the image more appealing.

The graphical diagram shows the same information, but with a visual representation. A diagram is considered more attractive. Therefore, design is important.
